Suspects in custody after suspicious packages were found near the White House

The US Secret Service confirmed that the person was in custody following reports of suspicious packages found near the White House on Sunday evening.

“At around 2:30pm on Sunday, July 27, 2025, a US Secret Service uniformed officer immediately arrested an individual who had climbed a fence on the southeast side of the US Treasury building,” federal law enforcement told FOX News.

The suspect allegedly dropped his bag on the sidewalk adjacent to the fence line of a building adjacent to the White House.

It prompted a response from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Weapon Disposal (EOD) team, clearing the item.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, charged with illegal intrusion, and a fugitive from justice stemming from a warrant in another jurisdiction.

Ryan Rouse, 59, the suspect on his alleged attempt at Trump’s life, fled when he found him. He was accused of assaulting multiple firearm violations with federal officials and attempted assassination.

He will represent himself in his upcoming trial.
