Boeing defense workers reject contract offers and prepare for the strike in August


Boeing is preparing for a potential labor strike from the defense division on August 4 after members who built military aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri “overwhelmingly” rejected the company’s latest contract offer on Sunday.

International Mechanics and Aerospace Workers (IAM) represent three 3,200 employees St. Louis Area According to Reuters, the facility declined the proposal, which includes a general wage increase of 20% over four years, a $5,000 ratification bonus and an increase in leave hours and sick leave benefits.

IAM did not specify which portion of the offer led to rejection, and said it “did not address the priorities and sacrifices” of its members.

The existing contracts were set to expire on Sunday, but the union has announced a weekly “cooling-off” period that will delay strike measures until August 4th.
