Pastor Chicago walks 3,000 miles through America for underserved youth

Known for his unconventional forms of activity, the Chicago pastor is taking the next step in trying to inspire the young people of the country.
Pastor Corey BrooksKnown as the “Rooftop Pastor,” he is preparing to walk 3,000 miles this September from New York to Los Angeles. He said his goal is to raise awareness and funding for community development in Chicago and underserved youth across the country.
“Our nation is separate from God, our families and communities are separate from God, and we need spiritual awakening in America,” Brooks said.Fox and friends” on tuesday.
“That’s one of the reasons I walk through America, bringing hope to people in the cities, the suburbs and the countryside and letting them know we can change things.”

Brooks made national attention in 2011 when he spent 94 days living on a rundown roof Chicago A motel protesting violence and the death of young people in his community. The pastor aimed to raise money to destroy the abandoned motel.
The demonstration was a success and led to the creation of Project Hood, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping at-risk young people escape poverty and violence. The organization’s website says it will provide guidance, training and community support to local residents.
“Chicago adopted one of the most dangerous regions in America, and we changed that,” said Brooks, a previous work.

Now he wants his latest mission, called “Walking around America” and will support even more young people. The goal of this journey is to raise $25 million in private contributions to negate Project Hood’s 90,000-square-foot leadership and economic opportunity centers. Brooks said he aims to spread Project Food nationwide.
“We have a school that sets up schools. Our goal is to plant Project Food All over the country, Brooks said.
“That’s one of the reasons we walk to raise these funds. It’s not just a walk about raising funds, but a walk about increasing benefits.”

Brooks said the efforts have already received support from private citizens, business leaders and donors.
“We’re building a 90,000-square-foot center, for the help of Americans and (The)Fox Network,” he said, expressing his gratitude to those who already support his walk.
Brooks said he hopes his walks teach others that faith and hard work help people do great things.
“I really believe America is still functioning,” he said. “Everything can happen in America when faith, hard work and vision are activated.”
