Raymond Ford suggests Gervonta Davis will be a much easier opponent for Shakur Stephenson than William Zepeda
Raymond Ford says that Jevonta Davis will be a “easy” fight for Shakur Stephenson than his match against William Zepeda earlier this month. Ford believes that the low-power style that loads into Tank Davis’s single-power shots will be an easy one to neutralize Shakur (24-, 11 Kos) compared to the Zepeda battle.
Stevenson’s pocket fighting style
“I was hoping for that performance. He came there and did what he was doing all camping, sat in his pocket and beat the guys in his game,” Raymond Ford said. fighthypewhen he was asked if he was surprised that Shakur Stephenson had beaten William Zepeda.
Stevenson had to fight that way. Even if he ran, Zepeda cut off the ring and slammed him into a body shot, making him look bad. Additionally, Turki Alalshikh had previously warned the fighters that they would not “support” fighters using the Tom and Jerry style. Shakur’s bread and butter fights in jelly style and is always in an amateur era.
“Shakur is doing it. He didn’t show it in his fight, but he’s sitting in his pockets and stuff in the gym.
Ford and Shakur have trained in the same gym in the past. Raymond said this about Stevenson: “He’s more like a friend and brother.” It’s unclear whether Ford’s friendship plays a role in his views about him, and he would oppose Tank Davis.
Zepeda forced pocket fight
“Yeah, William Zepeda is a fighter who can’t pack boxes all night. So at the point of the fight, you have to pack boxes, and at the point of the fight, you’ll have to sit in your pocket a little bit with him,” Ford said.
If Shakur ran, Zepeda would have hit him with a powder basket, and that would have forced him to stop. It’s difficult to take a body shot while you’re moving. Because bracing for punches is difficult. Stevenson knew it well and dared not take the risk.
“I felt he fought the perfect battle and he got the job done. He did it and looked beautiful,“Ford spoke about Shakur in his battle with Zepeda.
What is Ford talking about? It wasn’t “beautiful” in the way Stevenson fought. He resembles his sparring partner, pinned to the ropes, trying to protect his head the whole time, hitting him against his body. There were countless body shots that Shakur had been hit. Unless we changed the definition of beautiful to mean “ugh,” it was not beautiful. Zepeda landed over 300 punches, many of which led to the body.
Ford: Davis is easier than Zepeda
“I think Style is a fight, he can make it. Fight easier than the Battle of William ZepedaFord spoke about how Shakur will do it to Gelbonta Davis. “Tank, he doesn’t throw that many punches. He (Stevenson) doesn’t have to worry about output, fatigue, or anything like that.”
He is forced to run in round 12, so it’s not an easier battle for Shakur, who will face Tank Davis than Zepeda. One slipped off and he was knocked out. If Stevenson runs, the crowd will boo and Turki Aralsif will be furious at ringside. He had paid Shakur millions, but he ignored his instructions for Tom and Jerry’s fight and kept the entire battle moving.
“The only thing he has to worry about is one big shot. Tank is trying to set him up by landing one big shot. Shakur feels used to seeing it.
Shakur only fought one big puncher in his eight-year professional career, Edwin de los Santos. So you can’t say a style of fight where he’s “used to seeing it.” He ran the entire battle with Delos Santos and could easily lose due to his low output.
De Los Santos landed all of the most difficult punches in each round. Usually, the judges give it to a fighter who lands a cleaner, stiffer shot. In that case, they decoupled the practice and handed it over to A-side fighter Stevenson.
