A complete list of horses participating in this year’s race at Aintree
The most well-known obstacle race on the racing calendar will take place this Saturday on the final day of the 2025 Grand National.
Up to 34 horses will begin displaying two laps at Aintree. This was reduced for safety reasons from last year’s 40 when Maximus won.
This time, Stumptown and Iroko are favorites for the 2024 champions, just like last year’s Ireland’s Grand National winner Intense Raffles.

When is Grand National 2025?
The race will take place on Saturday, April 5th at 4:00pm BST. The Mullins will target their third Grand National victory in 2005, when he first won a race at the hedge hunter.
“It was a huge success last year to win the second time,” Mullins said. The top candidate this time was rated 167, giving him the 11th 12 pound weight.
“I felt very spoiled to win the second Grand National, which is top weight and tough, but we thought it was difficult.
“He likes trucks, and sometimes when the horse comes back for the second time, they don’t like it.
“The horses go around it once and the second time can be different, but he had a good experience last year and I hope that doesn’t become an issue.”

How to watch Grand National 2025: TV Channels, Live Streams
In the UK, Grand National 2025 will be shown live on ITV 1 and racing TV. ITV coverage starts at 15:15 and runs until 5:00pm.

The total prize money for the race is £1 million. Here’s how it collapses:
- 1st place – £500,000
- Second – 200,000 pounds
- Third – 100,000 pounds
- 4th – £65,000
- 5 days – £40,000
- 6th – £30,000
- 7 days – £20,000
- 8th – £15,000
- 9th – £10,000
- 10th – £5,000
Grand National Weather Forecast
According to the Met Office, Eintree watches the sunshine of the race and projects a temperature of about 14 degrees and 11 mph wind power.
It is said to have very good visibility and gentle progression.
