A Missouri teen was found 700 miles away in a sex offender’s closet a few months after disappearing

According to the arrest, officials at the Fort Collins Police Station were led to a Colorado home after receiving hints through the missing teen’s Instagram account on April 15th, and then were dormant after receiving hints through the missing teen’s Instagram account. Affidavit obtained by 9News.
On April 16, investigators determined that the account would be accessed from the IP address of the home where 44-year-old Maximilian Bondrescu lived.
Investigators got a warrant and went to their home on April 18, as Bondrescu is a registered sex offender, officials said.

Bondrescu denied the officer that the girl was inside the house, but she was later found hiding in the closet, the affidavit said.
“The house was searched and the missing juvenile was inside. Bondresk is a currently registered sex offender,” police shares in a news release on the department’s Facebook page. Police confirmed that the Bondescu has been booked at Larimar County Jail. Faces many feesIncludes:

The victim was 15 years old, when he was first reported missing outside Columbia, Missouri. The affidavit says when school staff informed her father that she was not at school that morning. He told police that when he got home from work, she was not home yet, so he couldn’t contact her by phone.
Uber drivers are said to share sexually explicit images.

The victim, who was not identified due to age, told investigators that he began communicating with Bondrescu on an app called “Boo” in November 2024, but later moved the conversation to Snapchat.
“The investigation revealed that Bondrescu drove into Missouri, where he met a young woman and then took her to Colorado,” police said.

According to the affidavit, Bondrescu picked her up in the middle of the night and “taked a route that avoided the toll road.”
When they arrived in Colorado, the victim told police that Bondesced her in a blanket and took her home, saying, “No one would see her.” Bondrescu also dyed her hair and wore a mask and sunglasses when she went out, the documents say.

Police reported to investigators that she was detained against her will, but Bondescu added that he would occasionally take her out and do her job for his snow removal company, Foco Sno Go.
She was forced to work for Bondrescu’s company, but police said she must wear a mask with a shovel to hide her identity and age.

Police are asking customers who used the company to contact Det. David Guy on 970-416-2026.
“The importance of the work done by the Fort Collins Police Cybercrime Unit and similar units across the country plays a key role in helping keep children safe,” said Christie Voleski, Fort Collins Police Advisor. “Without these detectives’ hard work, the boy could have continued to be victims. Our investigators will now work closely with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure justice for this child.”
According to Larimer County Prison records, Bondrescu is being held on a $500,000 bond with a court date scheduled for Monday, May 5th.
