Training camp has opened NFL This week, the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers meet in Canton, Ohio on July 31st to officially kick off the preseason.
With excitement built up for the 2025 season, at least one running back could potentially watch the month of August from the sidelines.

According to ESPN, the two-time Pro Bowlers could receive further ratings near the start of the regular season. The Texans are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Rams on September 7th in their first week.

Mixon has started training camp on a non-football injury list. The roster designation came after Mixon appeared to have an ankle injury before this offseason. He had not taken the field during the mini-camp.

This is not the first time Mixon has fought ankle issues. He was sidelined for three games in 2024 after aggravating his ankles. Mixon also put out two games in 2022 with a concussion.
He dealt with some obvious ankle sprains in 2021, but he was still able to appear in that season 16 games. A foot injury in the sixth week of 2020 led Mixon’s season early.

The 29-year-old has been in a strong season in 2024, rushing for 1,016 yards. Mixon also ran with 11 touchdowns, earning one score last year.
