A violent criminal who was mistakenly released from Orleans Parish prison for a clerical mistake

Inmate Halil Bryan was released from hospital Friday despite facing multiple charges. The office confirmed that an internal investigation is currently in operation Statement to WDSU.

In a statement released by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Susan Hutson admitted the mistake and accepted responsibility.

“Orleans District Sheriff’s office We take full responsibility for the administrative errors that led to the false release of Khalil Bryan, and we offer a sincere apologies to the public, law enforcement partners and the courts. This incident was the result of human error. It is a misconception based on shared surnames between two individuals. We are currently conducting a full internal investigation and we can see that disciplinary action will occur,” Hutson said.

The Orleans parish says the sheriff’s office “compromised” in the lawsuit.

“Brian faces violent and non-violent accusations and we have coordinated closely with law enforcement to ensure his prompt custody. Most importantly, the victims of these issues have been notified and we are implementing safeguards to ensure this does not happen again.

Brian was detained for illegal possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and OPSO information. He also had an aggressive warrant from Criminal District Court Section H for firearms, domestic abuse, child danger, and aggravated assault due to domestic intrusion.

Brian was also appointed in nearby Parish Jefferson and was held on a $100,000 bench warrant for not appearing, along with another $25,000 bond related to a recent felony charge.

Orleans parish sheriff boasted about the prison’s security date before 10 inmates fled.

Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams issued a sharply expressed statement following his false release.

“Inmate Halil Bryan recognizes that due to serious mistakes in the processing of the prisoners, he was mistakenly released from custody by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office early today,” Williams said.

“Even though those (bonds) hold, Brian was mistakenly released when an agent failed to properly verify his identity in response to a bond posted by an unrelated individual for another inmate, and instead accidentally discharged Brian,” the DA added.

“This is a very troublesome case that underscores the ongoing systemic issues surrounding the exercise and control of custody for individuals in detention. The inability to properly verify the identity of a prisoner prior to release is an unacceptable lapse that poses a realistic and immediate risk to public safety.”

“OPDA victim advocates will begin victim outreach and continue their efforts until they reach all victims and witnesses related to Brian’s prosecutors. If we are unable to contact us, we will send investigators to notify affected victims and their families and receive appropriate assistance.

“The public deserves a judicial system that operates with integrity, professionalism and vigilance, especially when it comes to protecting victims.”

Hatson confirmed that all known victims have been notified. The District Attorney’s Office said investigators are actively working to reach people who have not been contacted, including in-person visits where necessary.

The release comes when 10 prisoners fled the Orleans Parish Prison on May 16th, 10 weeks after his famous escape from the same prison.

Nine people have been recaptured and pleaded not guilty earlier this week. One man, Derrick Groves, remains massive, according to court and OPSO records.

Law enforcement He is currently working across the parish line to find and detain Brian.

“We urge anyone with information about Halil Bryan’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately,” the District Attorney’s Office said.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
