Abbott sends Texas National Guard to maintain peace as anti-ice protests spread

Texas Governor Greg Abbott unfolded National Guard troops throughout the state ahead of more anti-ice protests.
Abbott announced The X post moved early Wednesday this week as protests erupted across parts of Texas and across the US.
“The Texas State Guard will be deployed in locations throughout the state to ensure peace and order,” Abbott wrote in the Post. “Peaceful protests are legal. To hurt people or property is illegal and leads to arrests. @texasguard uses all the tools and strategies to help law enforcement maintain order.”
It was unknown exactly where Abbott deployed the National Guard. Fox News Digital contacted the governor’s office for more details but did not respond immediately.

Austin police arrested eight people, and state police arrested five more.
