According to a new report, women are 32% more likely to serve as the company’s president before becoming CEO

All over the S&P 500, female CEOs were 32% more likely to spend their time in their role as president before being nominated as CEO. City Chief Jane Fraser, Clorox CEO Linda RendleADP Chief Maria Black, and Otis Chief Judith Marks are just a few of the women who stopped as president on their way to the top.

The extra steps women are heading towards CEOs “indicating further needs to go further to prove they are ready for top job,” says Andrea Silbert, president of the EOS Foundation. “One possibility is that some business committees or CEO employment committees recognize women as having additional risks and hope to serve as president before considering the CEO role,” she adds.
