Actress Julie Bowen revealed that she got a pacemaker at the age of 29 due to her heart condition

At 29, Julie Bowen acquired a pacemaker.

The Modern Family alumni gave a revelation to host Michael Rosenbaum when he recently appeared on his podcast. “Inside you.”

The 55-year-old shared that she struggles with her sick sinus syndrome. Mayo Cliniccauses “slow heartbeat, pause, or irregular heartbeat.”

“I have a low heart rate at rest,” the actress said on the podcast. Her pacemaker said she was “set to be unable to fall below 45.” Bowen told Rosenbaum that her resting heart rate was in her 30s before receiving the pacemaker.

According to Cleveland Clinicthe average heart rate for adult women is 78-82 beats per minute. It says the “regular” range is between 60 and 100 beats per minute. According to the outlet, multiple factors such as hormones, exercise and other lifestyle choices can affect your heart rate.

“I was a runner throughout high school,” explained Bowen. “And I was a really competitive runner. And I always had a really low heart rate. And my sister was in medical school, so I think I was probably just out of college.

“We were on vacation and she said, ‘I want to hear this,'” Bowen recalls. “And she listened to my heart and she said, “It’s not what they’ve told you, and it’s not the heart of a runner. I’ll go to a cardiologist right away. ‘”

Bowen’s younger sister, Annie Rouette Kemeyer, had just graduated from medical school. She refused to give up on the issue. Still, Bowen would insist on her brother that “I’m fine.”

A month later, Bowen filmed a pilot episode TV series “ed”, It premiered in 2000.

“I shot “Ed” pilot And I had to get a pacemaker right away,” Bowen said. My life is over. This is very strange. I’m going to die. “I don’t know what I thought was because I was 29 years old. ”

“You’re lucky that you didn’t die before,” Rosenbaum said.

“They said I probably wouldn’t die of it, but I’m going to start to faint,” she explained. “There was a feeling of ambiguity… whenever I felt relaxed and really relaxed, I started watching TV or (a) movies.

“And they said, “You’re going to drive a car, you’re going to faint, and you’re going to kill someone.” And I said, “Oh, well, then give me a g—- n pacemaker.”

According to Bowen, the surgeon went through her armpits. Over the years, she had to change the battery about three times.

“I always forget that,” Bowen said of having a pacemaker.
