After the Battle of Canelo, Crawford’s 154-pound future is questionable, and there’s no doubt about an incontroversial run

Terrence Crawford says he won’t try to become an indisputable champion at 154 after his battle with superstar Canelo Alvarez on September 13th. But that’s not a shock as Crawford hit the ceiling last summer in a fight with former WBA junior middleweight champion Isleil Madrimov.

That fight shows Crawford couldn’t fight any more, and he would likely lose to other fighters in the 154-pound division. Due to minor adjustments in his game, Madrimov put his number into the rematch. It’s a sad way for Terence to go, repeatedly losing to predatory sharks in the division. They feed him.

154 minefields

Former Four Division World Champion Crawford (41-0, 31 KO) feels he won’t receive credit for beating the current champion Bakhram Muratazaliev (IBF) and Sebastian Fandra (WBC and WBO) are either unknown to fans or have already been beaten.

Crawford will be the indisputable three-division champion by defeating the remaining two champions by 154. Still, it would be difficult for a child, just 38 years old, to accomplish that task, mainly if he sticks to a schedule once a year.

That means Crawford will fight the powerful Puncherm Rutazaliev and the 6’5” Fundra at the age of 39 or 40. Try a fighter who is younger, taller, stronger and more active at that age. It’s not good for people from Nebraska. Crawford knows what he’s against.

So he says he won’t even try to become an indisputable champion. His chances of success are small, and it is a brutal way for Crawford to suffer the defeat of his first career, with Crawford being knocked out by the deadly Murtazaliev at either hand. That may be a complete discrepancy.

If Crawford is focused on legacy and money when he returns to 154, then the fight against Virgil Ortiz Jr. and Jaron’s “boots” Ennis is how it goes. Both will still be a dangerous battle for Crawford due to his age. If he chooses to make a year-long layoff after the Battle of Canelo, he will fight one of them at the age of 39.

Pace, high power, heavy artillery Virgil Jr. drops into Crawford, making it nearly impossible to take it for long, with collapse or being forced to escape. He’s lucky with the scoring of the battle for Israil Madrimov, but Crawford is not going to continue giving decisions in the fight that he’s been slagded.

Madrimov’s lessons

if ‘Little Ggg’ Madrimov He would have won that fight as he landed a more cruel and cleaner shot at Crawford, as he was more popular. Imagine what Vergil Ortiz Jr would do to him. It’s Madrimov 2.0.

“I felt stronger than him. I felt more punched him harder than him. I felt like I hurt him many times in the fight,” Terrence Crawford said. Cigar Talk On August 3rd last year, he talked about his battle with Isler Madrimov.

Crawford sounds paranoid here. Israil ‘Little Ggg’ Madrimov was a bigger puncher.

Madrimov landed a more cleaner and stiffer shot, clearly deserving a victory, but the judges gave him B-side treatment. Crawford’s face was visible even more beaten at the end. There have been no instances of Madrimov being hurt in the battle. He’s just thinking that age is beginning to catch up with Crawford, and he’s causing problems in his memory. He may be thinking of another fight.

“I felt he was ready, he was ready, he was ready, he fought a good fight. He was bothered. He was patient. He made up his mind. He was on the game plan. I stuck and did what he had to do to get to the final bell,” Crawford said.

There is no undisputed execution

“Not at all because I see a 154-pound division landscape. There are many great fighters, but the 154 doesn’t have many defining battles. The 154 has many legacy. There’s no fight,” Crawford said.

“154. When you see the scenery of Bakhram, people will say, ‘Who is Bakhram?” He knocked out Tim Tsey.

“Fundora has already been knocked out. Throughout my career, people have tried to take away my trust and reduce my achievements,” Crawford said.
