“Alcatraz makes no sense”: Hitchens’ eyes fight Lopez
IBF Light Welterweight Champion Richardson Hitchens says he doesn’t like the idea of fighting a unified match against WBO champion Theo Fimolopez on Alcatraz Island this summer in San Francisco, California.
New York native Hitchens (19-0, 7 Kos) feels that his battle with Brooklyn-born Theo should take place in their hometown. He likes the idea that they are fighting under the Brooklyn Bridge, Madison Square Garden, or the Barclays Center.
Over Alcatraz
Hitchens makes a good point. Fans of the Northern California Bay Arena arena are not interested in seeing Theofimo and the Hitchens, as neither guy comes from that arena. There aren’t many fights in that area to begin with, but this doesn’t mean connecting with fans in the San Jose and Gilroy area and making you want to come and see it at Alcatraz.
Tulki might be thinking of using someone from the Bay Area to attract fans and use it for Theo and Hitchens. Having it as the main event at Alcatraz doesn’t interest the people in the area. They must be super hardcore boxing fans to see to see that fight. Teofimo (21-1, 13 Kos) is not popular enough to attract viewers. The Hitchens are still unknown to most fans.
“Alcatraz, that’s not fun for me to fight. I wanted to fight in New York. That was the whole storyline, two guys from New York fighting there,” Richardson Hitchens said. fighthype About his potential unification battle with Theofimolopes in June or July.
“Since the 2016 Olympics, I have been holding back the cities that represent the city. If that makes sense (to fight at Alcatraz, I have not yet made an offer, I’ll be happy, I’ll be happy if that’s what I meant to be fighting at Alcatraz. The fight isn’t that interesting for me than it was if I was in New York. Turki said he wanted to do it, and we’ve heard about the Brooklyn Bridge, Madison Square Garden and Barclays.
“I’m still in the fight. We just had to wait and see what it was. Eddie Hearn talks with Tulki next week or so and they’re going to see what it was on the table. You’ll see if it brings you. So, as long as it makes sense, I’m down to make it happen,” Hitchens said.
Lopez’s Silence
Teofimo is quiet about his next fight. He obviously goes to the Hitchens fight if it rewards, but he doesn’t mention that he wants to face him. Teofimo has been talking about Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Terence Crawford. Fighting them would pay better than a match against the Hitchens.
“It’s going to be a great buildup. Theo likes to troll and talk. His dad likes to troll and talk. You know me. I always have my own s** * ready to speak and mandate that type of antics. Theo makes it at close to a million, but he wants to start seeing that next level of money. So , he’s trying to have his biggest fight,” Hitchens said.
