Amazon’s StarLink competitors encounter production delays
Amazon’s Project Kuiperthe company’s initiative to connect satellite fleets to beams to low-Earth orbits and internet connections to users, has struggled to bolster production. Bloomberg reported on wednesday.
According to the report, Elon Musk’s Starlink competitors have only completed dozens of satellites. The venture reportedly needs to quadruple its production rate to meet government deadlines.
Project Kuiper seems to be a long way to catch up with Starlink, which currently has around 8,000 satellites in orbit and has over 5 million customers.
In addition to production delays, Kuiper’s satellites struggle to ride into space due to the slower launches of rockets that are common in the space industry. The launch scheduled for the beginning of this month has been cancelled due to weather. It’s being rescheduled next week.
