“American Pie” singer Don MacLean is critical of “very bad lyrics writing” in modern music
“American Pie” singer Don McLean I’m not very impressed with modern songwriters.
On the red carpet of the MovieGuide Awards, the musician told Fox News Digital that the biggest changes he saw in his career were “very bad lyrics writing and no melody. Two important things: song, lyrics and melody.”
MacLean has re-released three of his albums, “People,” “Chain Lightning,” and “Prime Time,” on vinyl and CDs, and continues to tour with two children’s books.

“I’ve done a lot. I’ve taken a little break. And I’ll start rolling one day around this summer, then I’ll come and come and really go next year,” he said.
The 79-year-old recently marked the 66th anniversary of “The Day Music Died” when Buddy Holly, Richie Valence and JP “Big Bopper” Richardson died in a plane crash.
Tragedy served as an inspiration for MacLean The iconic hit, “American Pie”, The song has become an integral part of the pop culture landscape.

However, McLean says he “never planned” for the song to take off.
“People chose the song “American Pie.” It was not planned.
He continued, and a few years later, all of these radio stations began to go to Oldies and began to play songs from the 50s and 60s. ”

McLean praised their passing Music legend through song And it was recognized that it became an “unofficial holiday.”
“I think ‘The Day Music Died’ started about 10 years ago. This was like an informal holiday commemorating this rigorous occasion, and of course, deified the moment in a certain way,” he explained.

“I was trying to write a big song about America, so that’s how it all happened, but again, it all happened from people,” he added.
