After Petit found Christ at the age of 11, his faith continued to grow every year.
He later met Laura at Baptist Church just outside Houston. Her father was a preacher, and the couple married at a young age.

Laura rose to her feet with big league fame and leaned heavily against her own faith, hugging her from a young age, overcoming the hardships that come with being an athlete’s wife.
“Through the time, a woman wants to push me out of the way and take a photo with something different from him… relying on the Lord, relying on my Bible, and through all that time, prayers (that passed me),” she shared.
Even as a rookie, Pettit took the lead Bible Study Among his teammates, he described as “tough” during the disagreement of people around him.

“You need to reach a point where obviously no one cares about you that you are thinking. You know what you live your life, what you believe in, and the foundations you want to live.
“It was tough to have to walk around the baseball locker room and say, ‘I got the chapel in five minutes’, but a lot of people didn’t want to hear it, but again, God has always been very faithful and I had a lot of confidence in what he was trying to do and how he was trying to help me. ”
