Apple launches one subscription with coverage of three devices for $19.99 per month

On Wednesday, Apple announced it will launch its AppleCare One, a new $19.99 monthly subscription plan that includes coverage for up to three products. Customers can choose to add more device protection for $5.99 per month.

Previously, people had to enroll their Apple devices into separate AppleCare+ plans if they needed additional coverage of their products beyond the standard warranty. The company currently offers bundled coverage.

AppleCare One includes all the benefits of AppleCare+, including unlimited repairs for accidents like drip and spills, 24/7 support from Apple professionals, and battery coverage. AppleCare One also covers iPads and Apple Watches, adding theft and loss protection beyond the iPhone.

For the first time, Apple is enabling customers to add AppleCare coverage to Apple products they already own. With a new subscription plan, customers can add most of their products up to four years ago, if they are in good condition. To ensure that your device is in “good condition,” you may need to undergo a diagnostic check on your customer’s iPhone or iPad, or on your Apple Store, before it is added to your plan.

“One AppleCare price is the same regardless of the product covered. This means that customers can save $11 per month on enrolling their iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch and enrolling in a separate AppleCare+ plan for each device,” Apple explained in a press release.

This means that if someone buys AppleCare when they buy a new MacBook Pro and adds an iPhone to their plan, then they will already save money by not having two separate AppleCare+ plans. Plus, it’s even more valuable to include another device, like the Apple Watch.

AppleCare One can only cover devices in a customer’s Apple account, Apple says.

For users who want to protect one device, Apple says they can continue to sign up for AppleCare+. Tech Giant also points out that the new theft and loss coverage of Apple Watch and iPads is not only part of AppleCare, but also part of AppleCare+ for customers who want to cover a single iPad or Apple Watch.

AppleCare One is available in the US starting Thursday. Consumers can sign up for Applecare directly on their iPhone, iPad or Mac, or access the Apple Store.
