Arkansas teacher charged with murder couple in Devilsden State Park

Arkansas police He indicted a 28-year-old school teacher for the murder of a couple who were hiking with their children in Devil’s Den State Park, and after a few days of searching he found him in a nearby city.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) arrested Andrew James McGan at a barber shop in Springdale at 4:57pm Wednesday. Officials said at a press conference Wednesday that he had a haircut at the time of his arrest.

He was charged with two counts of capital murder in connection with the murders of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Christan Amanda Brink, 41, who were found dead on the walking trail in Devilsden. Their daughters, ages 7 and 9, have not been injured and are being cared for by their families, authorities said.

“There’s no mistake. We don’t tolerate violent crimes in Arkansas. If you target innocent people, law enforcement will corner you and lead you to justice.” Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders I said.

McGann was a teacher in a small school district in Oklahoma until May, and later resigned to work in another state, according to a statement from Sand Springs Public Schools. They said McGann passed all the background checks.

McGann hadn’t started a new job in Arkansas yet. At Springdale Public Schools, district chief Jared Cleveland has been confirmed with Fox News. Cleveland said McGann is in contact with students and their families “at any time.” He cited the investigation and refused to provide more information.

“Our entire team extends our deepest pathetic dol meaning into a family,” he said. “Their children are especially in our thoughts and prayers.”

The mother of a former student provided an email to Fox News from the teacher’s previous school district. She said her son filed a complaint with the director in 2023 after witnessing McGann acting inappropriately against a young female student.

In response, parents received a letter from the district saying that McGann was placed on administrative leave but staff investigated poor complaints of classroom management and professional judgment.

The study found no evidence of inappropriate behavior towards students, but concluded that McGann’s classroom management and judgment fell below district expectations. Shortly afterwards, McGann resigned.

“On Wednesday afternoon, McGann informed HR that he had made an immediate enforcement of his decision to step down from his position,” the email said in part. “We’ll have alternative teachers in his class for the rest of the school year.”

Manhunt will be strengthened for Arkansas suspects who are likely injured in the couple’s fatal attack

After a recent relocation from South Dakota to Arkansas, the Brinks family spent Saturday, July 26th, exploring Devilsden State Park in the Ozark Mountains with their two young daughters.

The suspect, later identified as McGan, had a black backpack and was wearing fingerless gloves. He was seen driving towards the park exit in a black four-door car, authorities said.

State Police Chief Colonel Mike Hagar said the “monster” was snoring on Wednesday.

Praising the cooperation between law enforcement agencies, he said, “Because of their hard work and investigative skills, we were able to remove monsters from the streets and bring peace of mind to the two precious girls and the rest of our citizens.”

McGann is scheduled for court Friday morning.

The Devil’s Nest is located about 140 miles northwest of Little Rock. The remote 2,500-acre park features hiking trails Rock formations.
