“He led the army in the battle in Afghanistan, while boldly proved his love for our country in the Army, helping veterans access to emergency medicines after his honorable retirement as captain,” Trump said.

Senator Jerry Moranthe chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee made his request earlier this year to confirm Brown through a much faster process known as unanimous consent, opposed by Senate Democrats in May.

“It’s not a Republican or Democrat’s issue to give veterans a break with honor and serve their families with dignity,” the Kansas Republican said in a statement at the time. “We are not discouraged from being unable to work in a bipartisan way to confirm the qualified and capable leaders of this national cemetery administration. That position is responsible for carrying out the strictest responsibility of our country and filling up our veterans.”
