Arsenal near to sign Chelsea Keeper Ke Parizabaraga

Reports say Arsenal is closing its contract to sign Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arizabaraga.

Kepa, who hasn’t appeared in the Blues since 2023, still signed with Chelsea until next summer, is on an in-season loan at Bournemouth, 30.

Prior to that, he was loaned out at Real Madrid, but now Mikel Arteta is thought to be interested in taking his fellow countrymen to the Emirates permanently, according to Athletic.

The outlet reports that the gunner triggered a £5 million release clause for Keeper, but Kepa, who arrived at Stamford Bridge at £72 million from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, will probably play one fiddle to first choice stopper David Raya.

Kepa made 35 appearances in all Cherry competitions last season, maintaining nine clean sheets.

And while Iraora had previously expressed interest in keeping players in the club, it shows that no final decision has been made yet.

“I think it’s a matter of negotiating with Kepa herself and Chelsea,” Iraora said.

“I think both sides are very pleased with his loan spell.

“He worked really well and his personality and experience was invaluable to us. On a really young team, it was really nice to see someone who had regular fights for the title.

“But we still have Neto, (Mark) Travers, and (Alex) Paulsen, so we know what decisions we’ll make before the season. There’s definitely a change in that position.”
