Best Travel Strollers for Your All Family Adventures (2025)

Honorable mention

There is a Many There’s a stroller there. Here are some of the things I like, but for some reason it’s not my number one recommendation.

Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 $400: This is another urban stroller, like the Thule Shine, but its almost flat fold reminds me of a travel stroller. It comes with car seat attachments that work with many popular car seat manufacturers, so if you want to get your car seat work right away, it’s a great choice if you have a great, lightweight crease. It’s similar to a jogging stroller, but with much smaller wheels and great wheel suspension.

$439 Bugaboo Butterfly: This is a great stroller that reminds you of the easy folding and lightweight Nuna TRVL. It is in lovely colour, has a large canopy, and is almost accurately sized to carry on board. I hope the frame was a bit sturdy for the price and had a bumper bar.

Colgo for $249: This is a great stroller, but at the price, I’d like to pay a little extra to get one of the top picks in this guide.

Ergobaby Metro+ $299: This stroller reminds me of many Delta kids icons, but with adjustable handlebars it’s a better choice for tall parents. (It’s rare to find adjustable handlebars in a travel stroller!) Also, since it’s compatible with car seats, if you want to use it early, the seats are a little larger so your child may fit longer than other affordable strollers. Although there is a frame that is more sturdy than icons, it is not as easy to fold or unfold as icons and other picks, or it is not as easy to carry. But if you are really tall, you are willing to deal with those issues and reach much easier.

Joie Tansy is $100: This umbrella stroller embodies the shape of a classic compact stroller, but when folded it is very tall and more difficult to place in a car or plane than other picks.

Joovy Kooper for $299: This stroller is one of the cheapest I’ve tested and I like that it comes with a full snack tray. Instead of standing upright, it folds flat.

Munchkin Night Owl Travel Stroller for $254: This has a compact folding similar to the Cybex Libelle 2, but the front stroller wheels contain small lights. If you’re traveling somewhere, including many night walks, it’s a good option.

$439 Silver Cross Jet 5: This was an earlier pick in this guide, but after hearing that other people struggled with the creases just like me, I would not recommend it as a top pick anymore.

Smartrike Travel Stroller for $350: The Trike combo on this travel stroller is cool, but I just want to buy it Liki Trike (7/10 Wired recommends) Because it’s very small and compact.

Thule Spring $319: This stroller reminded me of a baby jogger with a three-wheel design and nice suspension, but it’s taller and thicker. If you place the handle at center height, it stands up on its own. For that reason, it is advertised as a compact stroller. It’s not as light as other picks nor travel friendly. However, if you want something more compact for daily use, there are still nice sizes and handling.

WonderFold X2 Stroller Wagon $389: This wagon folds as compactly as a travel stroller. It’s seriously impressive. It’s comfortable for two kids, and comes with a canopy and a small built-in storage bin on the back to handle both push and pull. It’s no longer in stock, but if you see it, grab it. My friend checked this successfully on a plane instead of a stroller.

Zoe Tour V2 $259: This was my previous budget choice. It’s a great stroller that still comes with a lot of accessories, but the seat fabric and build quality aren’t as good as other cheap or similar priced models I’ve tested. But it has the best accessories you can find in a travel stroller.

FAQ

What do you need for a travel stroller?

Shopping for a stroller can be intense. They don’t want to invest small, but want them to last (usually once they reach 50-55 pounds). If you are in a pinch and are trying to choose a travel stroller or feel overwhelmed by the options, here are some guidelines that can help you.

  • Are there any 5-point harnesses available? The 5-point harness is standard for securing babies in a stroller via straps. There is one for all the picks mentioned above. This is the feature you want and should include it.
  • Do you need car seats compatibility? If you are traveling with toddlers, you will need bassinet mode or the ability to connect the car seat to the stroller. You can DIY your travel system by combining a stroller-compatible car seat. Many strollers recommend car seat attachments that allow you to work with popular brands, but some are less flexible. (Uppababy car seats only work with strollers.)
  • Do you want a travel nanny? A travel pram or bassinet is a lying flat mode that allows the newborn to lie on their back while you are walking. This is a great confusion, especially since infants can’t stay in the car seat for more than two hours at a time. I didn’t like most of the bassinet modes I tried in a travel stroller. They feel that I’m not as safe as I want to have toddlers, so I’m testing it more quickly and I’ll update this guide with more recommendations.
  • Are these umbrella strollers? There is a mixed category of strollers, sometimes called lightweight, travel, or umbrella strollers. The umbrella stroller is not very popular and is known for its round umbrella-like handles. This guide will focus on more common travel strollers, but we will be testing some of these.
  • Do you need a double stroller? If you have two children, you may wonder if you’re screwed. you’re not! If you have two kids, you can add a rider board, like the Thule Shine (if one of my kids is old enough to ride it). If not, Zoe Twin V2 ($529) It’s the double stroller version of the Tour V2, and is a great price for two kids (you can use Zoe’s toddler car seat attachments).

Can I ride a travel stroller on a plane?

A big reason you might be looking for a travel stroller is because you want to take it to the plane.

Many major airlines, such as American Airlines and British Airways, need to check their strollers gates. This means that it can be used at airports, but not overhead space. Some airlines also have the option to gate check for compact wagons like the WonderFold X2. Some airlines, such as United, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic, allow portable luggage (often called “folding strollers”) as carry-on rooms, as long as they meet the size requirements of carry-on luggage, which is usually 8 x 14 x 22 inches.

Technically, none of the travel strollers I tested fit perfectly with these size constraints. However, the Bugaboo Butterfly and Silver Cross Jet 5 have a compact size when folded closer than most people (as long as you remove the handle of the Jet 5). There are also things that are called This is the certificate (Abbreviation for International Air Transport Association). Having that should mean it’s safe to jump into the overhead compartment, but I recommend checking the specific rules of the airline. The two strollers in this guide are IATA certified, Silver Cross Jet 5 and Bugaboo Butterfly. We’re also testing Babyzen Yoyo right away. This is also certified.
