Bianconeri on the brink of the last 16 after the Yildiz exhibition
Kenan Ildis held hands to all three goals as Juventus appeared on the brink of the Club World Cup with a 4-1 victory over Widad Casablanca.
Juve started the campaign by crushing the Al Ain 5-0 and didn’t do much in Philadelphia on Sunday, but Yuldis’s brilliant performance at Lincoln Financial Field turned them into a knockout round.
Yildiz’s biased strike began scoring in the six minutes with a goal given as his own goal by the unfortunate Abdelmounaim Boutouil.
The 20-year-old quickly made it 2-0 with a sublime long-distance effort, and Thembinkosi Lorch pulled one back for Wydad, but Yildiz secured a second second point in the 69th minute.
Linked to travel away from the club, Dusan Vlahovic scored the net from the penalty spot to close the victory at stop time. The location of the final 16-year-old Juve has yet to be confirmed, but it is highly likely that Manchester City will head to the top spot for Group G on Thursday as he faces Al Ain later on Sunday.
Juventus v Widead Casablanca
Fortune opposed Wydad for the opener as Yildiz played the ball to Khephren Thuram and kept running, seeing his near-post effort Boutouil deflected beyond El Mehdi Benabid.
There was no doubt that the second goal of the game belonged to Yildiz after 10 minutes. He found the net on a stunning drive to the top corner after an incredible job from Andrea Cambiasso.
But Widead responded well, and the man who was most threatened against the city cut the deficit by half and lifted the ball over Michele di Gregorio after being spotted in a fully weighted pass by Nordin Amrabat.
However, Wydad did not consistently threaten him after that, and Juve decided on the terms in the increasingly intense second half.
After Andrea Cambiazo hit the post from the corner of Francisco Conseicao, Randall Coro Muani somehow failed to return home to Lloyd Kelly’s left wing cross.
The turkey slipped a solid finish after Koro Mooani cut from his left flank and played him with an accurate through-ball.
Mohammed Moufid quickly highlighted the scoreline more by finding the lower right corner from 12 yards after a clumsy foul by Guilherme Ferreira.
