Blackstone laments his colleague killed in an office building in New York

Financial company Blackstone said he lost “one of our most beloved colleagues.” Monday’s shooting In an office building in New York City.
Blackstone announced the death in a memo to staff and later identified the victim as Wesley Repatner in a subsequent statement. Three other people were killed during the attack, including officers from the New York Police Department. According to the Blackstone website, Lepatner served as global head of Core+ Real Estate and CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT).
“Our colleague Wesley Repatner is heartbroken by sharing that he is among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue. Words cannot describe the devastation we feel. Wesley is a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be so overlooked.”
“She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous and deeply respected within our company and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone. Our prayers are with her husband, children and family. We are also saddened by the loss of brave security personnel and other innocent victims, including the NYPD,” the statement continued.

Police identified the shooter as Shane Tamura, 27. Tamra had a Las Vegas address and a vehicle registered in Nevada. Inside the car, officers found round revolvers, ammunition, magazines, and a backpack and medicine rifle case prescribed by Tamura.
“The original investigation shows that Tamura’s vehicle traveled across Colorado on July 26th across the country, then traveled to Nebraska and Iowa on July 27th, then in Columbia, New Jersey at 4:24pm today.”

“Tamura has it Documented history of mental health. His motivation is still under investigation, and we are working to understand why he targeted this particular location. 345 Park Avenue is a commercial office building that includes tenants in tenants including NFL, Rudin Management, KPMG and Blackstone,” she added.
The NFL says one of its employees was “seriously injured” in the attack.

Meanwhile, the NYPD identified the murdered officer as Didarul Islam and said he “represents the best in our department.”
“When his life tragically shortened today, he was protecting New Yorkers from danger,” the department said. I’ll post it on X. “We will participate in prayer at this time of incomprehensible pain. We will respect his legacy forever.”

The 36-year-old was in the military for four years before being shot on Monday evening. He is the married father of two young boys and his wife is pregnant with a third child, Tish said.
