Explosive force
James walked from Mason to a big left uppercut in the second round and defeated him. Mason teeed off for the rest of the round and landed a big punch from the outside.
In the third, Jaimes made some adjustments, attempting to stay inside to prevent Abdullah from leveraging his shots. Jaimes landed some nice punches, but Mason had no strength to do anything. Jaimes makes the mistake of jumping on a shot and is glued to the counter on Mason’s left hand, flattening him with the canvas.
Before the fourth start, the ringside doctor checked Jaimes to see if it was okay to continue the fight. Mason dropped James to his head with the fourth furious combo. This was done internally, but this is even more impressive. Abdullah did not need to leverage punches to generate huge forces.
After a while, Mason connected with a fast combination that defeated Jaimes for the second time in the fourth umpire. Jaimes looked hurt and disappointed at that point. The judge chose to shake it off. The stop time was 1:55 in Round 4.
Mason, 20, said he wanted to continue his rankings after the fight, and when he was in that position he said he wanted to fight for the world title.
Based on this performance, Mason appears to be ready to defeat WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stephenson, and will defeat WBO champion Dennis Belinchik or Keyshawn Davis if he gets into that belt. Masons are on a different level than those people.
However, it is unlikely that Top Rank will allow Mason to fight Keyshaun. Because they are trying to make Norfolk Virginia’s native, and they are strategically moving him around the opposite where there is a risk of exposing him.
