This junior welterweight match turned out to be one of the rare occasions where the ring walk is longer than the actual fight. Boxers have the popular proverb that they can’t get paid for overtime. On Saturday night, Vargas finished his job in 42 seconds.

In the opening round of the contest, Emiliano Vargas began the match by changing levels with a jab. At 2:27 left to get into the first round, Espinoza threw a jab, but Vargas ran the perfect pull counter when he landed his devastating right hand above.

His stiff right hand sent Alexander Espinoza to the canvas. Espinoza was very determined as he made multiple attempts to get up, as his mind was left to work, but his body was not pleased.

When Espinoza was counted, 21-year-old Emiliano “El General” Vargas (15-0, 13 KOs) gathered his sixth knockout victory.

In a postwar interview, Vargas said he was ready for an upgrade as it relates to his level of enemy.

The match was scheduled for round eight, but Emiliano Vargas only took 42 seconds to make a decisive statement. Vargas finished the match early, but he said he was ready to go beyond the distance.

“I was ready for 15 rounds tonight. I know I’m blessing for having to do it that quickly. They don’t pay overtime, so I had to get it done quickly. But like I said, I’m ready for the top elite competition.
