Boxing Results: Zakkin Moses stops Carl Rogers in the fourth round
Seven months after his professional boxing career, super featherweight rookie Zaquin Moses made his fourth appearance in the ring, once again, Moses successfully went out as he stopped Carl Rodgers (3-3) in the fourth round.
The Moses vs. Rogers match was held at the Full Theatre at Madison Square Garden as part of the Hitchens vs. Cambosos undercard. Boxing is a level-based sport, and on Saturday night Moses proved to be at a level above his opponent.
In the opening round of the contest, Carl Rogers was the first to attack when he gained solid rights to his body. Southpaw Zakkin Moses began working with precisely because he consistently connects with jabs, straight left and check right hooks.
Rogers began the second round by landing to the right of the overhand. Moses looked very relaxed in the second round as he unleashed the jab and landed some solid body shots.
Moses kept it in cruise control in round three as he hit him with a punch variation walking Rogers. At this point in the fight, Moses began to make the boxing match look like a glorious sparring session.
Moses, 20, continued to attack Rogers with a sharp jab early in the fourth round. After landing the jab in the first minute of the fourth, Moses began to focus on his body attack.
A few seconds later, Moses transitioned to throwing the combination as Rogers dropped Rogers when he landed a right hook in the temple. Rodgers got up, but as the match continued, Moses landed a gust of winds from shots that were forced to intervene in the referee and halt the contest.
With the victory, New Jersey native Zakkin Moses (4-0, 3 KOs) showed off his patience, speed, power, accuracy and a great punching arrangement. In a postwar interview, Zakin Moses spoke about his thinking when he was caught up in the fight with Rogers.
“Do what I do and do fun. When this kid first sent him to me, I knew this kid wasn’t on my level, but as I said at the press conference, I’m working so hard and showing it here,” Moses said.
Zaquin Moses is the cousin of WBC lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson. With his four-ring appearance, Moses shows a wealth of talent and potential. For his next fight, Moses expressed his interest in playing a match in England (UK).
