Boxing Results: Zepeda has earned a fierce majority decision against farmers. Collazo wins dramatic KO in Cancun
WBC interim lightweight champion William Zepeda won a 12-round majority decision Saturday night for former IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer in the main event in Cancun, Mexico.
Southpaw Zepeda, 33-0 (27) won a 12-round majority decision, 33-8-1 (8). In the first round, it was close as Zepeda might have pulled it out. In the second round, it was all Zepeda, hurting the farmers in the final seconds. In the third round, Zepeda continued to put pressure on the farmers.
In the first two minutes of the fourth round, it was all about Zepeda going to the body. At the very end, the farmer returned and hurt Zepeda. In the final seconds it was Zepeda’s rally. In the fifth round, Zepeda had Farmer backing the entire round. In the final seconds, Farmer retorted Zepeda with a left uppercut on top of his chin.
In the sixth round, when Farmer appears to be hurt, he returns with an uppercut and stops Zepeda on the truck. In the seventh to seventh rounds, Zepeda again took the farmhouse.
In the 10th round, Farmer opposed Zepeda well. In the 11th round, Farmer rebutted well until the final seconds.
In the 12th final round, Farmer appeared to have recorded a knockdown a minute later, but referee Mike Griffin called it a slip. Farmer had the best round of the fight and tried to pull it out while he was outscoring almost 3-1.
Scores 114-114, 116-112, and 115-113.
In the co-main event, WBA Super World and WBO Mini Champion Southpaw Oscar “Elpupano” Colaz, 12-0 (9) knocked out Southpaw Edwin ‘Canito’ Kano.
In the first two rounds, Collazo overtook Kano and had the edge. In the fourth round, Corazo hurt Kano. Kano came back and landed half a dozen punches.
Corazo landed a body shot in the fifth round and thrusts Kano onto the canvas as umpire Miguel Canur counts Kano.
Flyweight Joselito “El Jaracan” Bellazuquez, 21-1-1 (13), defeated Adolfo “Lee” Castillo, 12-5-2 (7) in the 10th round. In the first round, Velázquez was cut outside his right brow due to a head collision. In the third round, Velazquez landed his right on his chin and rocked Castillo. Again, there was another clash of head as Castillo came with his head, which caused him the point.
In the fourth round, fans began cheering for Belazukes after defeating Castillo. In the sixth round, Velazquez landed a pair of left wings on Castillo’s body. In the seventh round, another head collision and Castillo were cut into the forehead.
In the eighth round, Bellazukes cut with his left eyebrow this time. In the 10th and final rounds, Velazquez was hurt by Castillo in the final minute. Celestino Castro was a judge.

Cruiserweight Rob ‘Robs’ Sarwan Saffer, 18-0 (13) stopped Roberto Silva 13-3 (7) at 2:55 in the fifth round of the scheduled 10th round.
In the second and third rounds, Safar rocked Silva. In the fifth round, on the right side of the chin, the pairing followed by knocking out Silva’s mouthpiece, then hurting him as the judge called a halt.
WBC World Mini Champion Yokasta Valle, 33-3, (10) previous WBA, WBC and WBO fly champion Marlen Esparza, lost due to split decision in 15-3 (1) 10×2 rounds.
In the first round, Esparza was an attacker, with Bale fighting back mainly with jabs. From rounds 2 to 4, Valle was particularly covered with overhand rights.
Fifth to seventh, Esparza has come back enough to take a few rounds. In the eighth round, Barre came back and had better hand speed to win the round. In the ninth round, Esparza returned with more landings. In the final round of the 10th, both had moments.
The scores were 96-94 for Esparza, 97-93 for Valle and 97-93 for 97-93.
