Caitlyn Clark’s controversy: Natasha Cloud says anger over a foul is “racism”
WNBA Champion Natasha Cloud He targeted new fans of the sport who were critical of the foul committed against Kate Linklark last season.
In an interview with Ryan Clark about a “Pivot Podcast,” Cloud was overwhelmed by the debate that last year shook the WNBA when several illegal hits against Clark spurred rage from many of her fans.
Cloud said he lost his teeth from a hit early in his career, but on behalf of Clark, he insisted that his anger was rooted in “racism.”

“It’s blown away by ‘Yes, they’re chasing Caitlyn Clark.’ But no, we’re just playing one of the best players in this league the way the other best players and franchise players have been played,” Cloud said.
Early in the interview, Cloud dealt with the growing number of WNBA fans, suggesting that their interest was not rooted in fandom.

“The madness that came with the new fandom was rooted in something other than fandom. I think it became totally clear,” Cloud said. “In many ways, it wasn’t about basketball.”
Cloud is not the first WNBA player or former player to suggest that some of Clark’s followers are racist.

In the first episode of her podcast, Reese stated that “there is a lot of racism when it comes” regarding Clark’s fans’ motivations. “Many new fans who are in the sport are not necessarily challenging, but they can give you even a little headache. I don’t know what a lot of people talk about at times, but that’s great for sports.
“We want to be positive about it, but that doesn’t always happen. So as long as we keep numbers up and our audiences are up, I think that’s all we can ask for.”
When asked if she wanted new sports controversial fans to support her, Watkins said, “Yes, I love supporters, and I love people I hate.”
“I think it’s just a part of the game. There are so many aspects to it. So it’s the nature of the game, and there’s always a negative and positive aspect.”
