Can Turki Alalshikh finally deliver the Boots Ennis Vs? Vergil Ortiz Jr. 154 pounds this November?
Turki Aralsik’s mention of wanting to match Jaron’s “boots” Ennis with Virgil Ortiz Jr. in the 154-pound match in November has accumulated fans, but I’m skeptical that the fight will happen.
Ennis vs Ortiz: Will that happen?
It’s a battle that allows Ennis to be promoted to stardom if he appears to be impressively defeating undefeated Virgil Jr.
On the other hand, if Ennis loses badly, he should consider other career options, such as moving up to 160. He’s big enough to compete in middleweight and the division is talentless. Perfect for boots if he gets beaten by Vergil Jr.
Ennis (34-0, 30 Kos) has already declined that it was the biggest payday of his career to fight Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 Kos) on Riyadh’s February 22nd card. It was a wasted opportunity for Boots in a battle that would have increased the power of his planet if he had won.
He reportedly refused a $8 million offer to fight Vergil Jr. at the time, and chose to stay at 147 last April to face WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis. It was a bad look on Ennis’ part of the boots, turning down a career-high payday and had a smaller money fight with Stanionis.
Turki attempts the battle for Ennis Ortiz Jr. in November, along with three other big fights. “We’re talking now with all our friends about playing cards in November. I want to have (vergil)ortiz (ennis) against the boots,” Alalshikh said. Ring Magazine.
November Riyadh Card
- Moses Itauma vs. Martin Bacall
- Jaron Ennis vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr.
- William Zepeda vs Andy Cruz
- Christian Mili vs. Leicester Martinez
Assuming Ennis agrees to fight Vergill Jr., it would be a great battle in his 154 debut. The former IBF and WBA welterweight champion boots don’t need to drain as much as they were fighting at 147.
