Can’t wait to see 10 new movies this May on Netflix
this month Netflixdozens of new features have been dropped and added to the platform’s already extensive catalog of original and acquisition programming, and we couldn’t be more excited. On the original side, May brings a few new star-studded releases, including Nonnas, starring Vince Vaughan, Joe Manganiello and Susan Sarandon. Also, Fear Street: PROM Queen and three new installments, Untold, of the acclaimed sports documentary series.
There are also plenty of old titles heading into the Netflix library, including Celine Song’s Oscar-nominated past life and the eerie 2022 Thriller Smile. Whether you’re in the mood for true crime, family fun, or action and adventure, Netflix is dropping a bit of everything this May.

Past Life was the directorial debut of Celine Song, who wrote the film. Greta Lee and Theo Yu Starr are stars as friends Nora and Hae Sung who met as children in Korea but lost contact after Nora’s family moved to Canada. After reconnecting, the two friends explored friendship and wondered what Nora had been. A beautiful story of longing and unrequited love, the film was nominated for Best Photo at the 2024 Oscars.
Not spoken: Shooting Guard (May 6)
Netflix’s original sports documentary series Untold Return is a three-new feature length special, each diving deep into a specific topic. The first film, Shooting Guard, premiered on May 6th and explores the stories of Washington Wizard’s teammates Gilbert Arenas and Havalisk Retenton. Their personal tension exploded when they threatened each other with guns in the locker room in 2009, leading to a halt for the rest of the season. Untold: Liver King will premiere on May 13th about dishonest wellness influencer Brian Johnson.
The French action series Lost Brett ends with the third and final film, the cleverly titled Last Brett, which arrives on Netflix on May 7th. Alban Lenoir returns as Lino, a thief-turned mechanic. In this article, he leaves prison and seeks justice for his old friend, Detective Charas. He was killed by a dirty cop in the first film. There are lots of thrills and chase. Think of it as the French version of French fast and the Furious, where the hero drives a Renault with soup.
Vince Vaughn discovers about the new, sentimental Netflix drama de nonna about a man who honors his mother who died by opening a restaurant that serves her pleasant family recipes. Hook? All the chefs in the restaurant are Italian granny (honored Nonna), played by Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire and Brenda Baccaro. The film is directed by Stephen Ciboski and concludes the cast with Joe Manganiello and Linda Caldelini.
Deadly American Marriage (May 9)
Netflix knows that audiences love good true crime stories, and this month’s latest feature, the fatal American marriage, is a story of love with tragic consequences. This original documentary follows the true story of Jason Corbett, the father of two widows from Ireland who married Molly Martens, a child American AU pair. After the family moved to Martens and North Carolina, Corbett was violently killed by Molly and her father Thomas. Molly claims that Jason is abusive during his marriage, but the web of secrets and lies she creates would prove that she is an obsessive liar and that Jason is the victim of her fraud.
Parker Finn’s debut film, Smile has gained a reputation as one of the creepiest and most enjoyable psychological thrillers of the past few years (and was successful enough to get a sequel just two years later). The film stars Soci Bacon as a psychiatrist named Rose Cotter, who witnesses a patient commit suicide due to the supernatural presence of a creepy smile. When you see a creepy smiler like a ring, death is imminent and the rose is unimmune, but this thriller also blends such true fear with thoughtful meditation on trauma.
Fear Street: Prom Queen (May 23)
Three Fear Street films were released in short order in 2021, each focusing on the mystical town’s Shadyside and eerie, bloody history. Well, things haven’t changed much on Shadyside. This means that evil is lurking. This time we’re in the hall of Sheddyside High as a beautiful young candidate who starts to drop like a fly. The cast includes icons from teen films such as Lili Taylor and Chris Klein, as well as Indian Fowler, Susanna’s son, Katherine Waterston.
After the 2022 film got off track and successful, Netflix is releasing a cozy Swedish Doramedi sequel about a pair of siblings taking part in bike races, just as personal life appears to have to be a tune-up. Katia Winters recreates the role of Lisa, who is due to take part in the 200-mile Vätternrundan bike race with her brother Daniel. As Daniel’s marriage begins to fall apart, he focuses on his wife rather than a race with Lisa, and in turn, Lisa begins to worry that her relationship with her boyfriend Anders also hit Skid.
The Oscar-nominated family film The Wild Robot is heading to Netflix this month. Based on Peter Brown’s novel, Wild Robot is the story of a robot who adopts his own goose when he gets lost in the forest. Lupita Nyong’o, Kit Connor and Catherine O’hara all lend their voices.
The Widow Game directed by Carlos Sedes is a Spanish film based on a true crime case known as “The Black Widow of Patraix.” In August 2017, the bodies of the man who was stabbed seven times were found in a parking lot in Valencia. Once the city’s murder group begins an investigation, the main suspect soon becomes Maje, the male widow.
