Carlo Ancelotti heads towards the door at the Real Madrid exit after the elimination of the Champions League
Carlo Ancelotti woke up this morning to find his term at Real Madrid is coming to an end.
Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the Champions League last night’s 2-1 defeat at home – Completed a comprehensive 5-1 overall victory, Gunner pushed him into the exit door, which was already Ajar after an overwhelming season.
Ancelotti was a huge success with the Santiago Bernabéu, winning two La Liga and three Champions Leagues, but there is no sentimentality when it comes to determining his future.
👔 @mrancelotti: “We have to keep our heads high. We have to learn from it and fight in the next game.”

Ancelotti knows time is passing
The Italian, whose contract expired in 2026, was approved after last night’s match. When the Club World Cup came in June, he said: “I can’t talk about this now.
“It’s possible that the club has decided to change (coach) and it’s fine this year, or when my contract expires, it’s fine. It’s fine.
“Tomorrow could be 10 days, a month or a year, but I’m just going to thank the club. I don’t care if the contract is over.”
Madrid still plays a lot this season. They faced Barcelona in Seville, the Club World Cup and Laliga in the Copa del Rey final, four points behind Barca.
Ancelotti added: “We have a dark side and a bright side.
“We managed Brightside many times, won titles and won games. We were eliminated from the Champions League, but there are three competitions that we need to focus on.”
But you don’t back Madrid to win any of them.
Not at Barcelona’s level
They played Barcelona twice this season, outclassed on both occasions, with a 4-0 league defeat at the Bernabeu and a 5-2 hammering in the Spanish Super Cup.
They could have a better chance at the Club World Cup, especially as British participants Chelsea and Manchester City are not at Arsenal or Liverpool levels. But even so, did this Madrid side have a chance to see the challenges of Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, or the winner of the Copa Libertador Botafogo?
The investigation has already begun in Madrid and could end with Ancelotti’s departure.
