Carmel Moton puts Abermendoza on the radar
Boxers exchange words on social media so that they don’t like it or not. Like an emoji, it was directed at a man on the verge of eating up his mentor’s record.
Abel Mendoza, from Fort Stockton, Texas, made his boxing debut in March 2016 when he defeated Juan Muniz by unanimous decision. Mendoza has consistently experienced success in a square circle as he was able to maintain a scarless record for the next eight years.
Currently, Aber Mendoza (42-0, 31 KO), a lightweight candidate at 29, has eight wins as he ties Floyd Mayweather’s mark (50-0). Mendoza could potentially ties her way through Mayweather’s record, but the difference between the two is the fact that Mayweather legendarily achieved the mark.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his professional debut in October 1996 when he stopped Roberto Apodaca in the second round. Over the next 20 years, Mayweather became five division champions and won 15 major world titles.
Mayweather’s path to (50-0) is Diego Corales, Charba Mitchell, Arturo Gatti, Carlos Valdamau, Zab Judas, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Oscar de la Hoyaz, Shano -Arez, Canelo Alvea, Canelo Alvare, Canelo Alvare, and Manny Pacquiao.
Abel Mendoza’s journey to victory over 40 is in stark contrast to the path Mayweather took to achieve his record-breaking mark. All of Mendoza’s victory is against mediocre competition. Of his 42 opponents, 24 lost records.
In his recent ring appearance, Mendoza won with Germany’s Ivan Melaz (65-69, 41 KOs) and Yonaker London (22-3-1, 17 KOs).
Abermendoza’s position as an undefeated fighter with over 40 victories has attracted more media attention, and due to media coverage, a rapidly rising prospect has made Abermendoza his radar I’ve placed it in.
When Carmel Moton saw a post in World Boxing News referring to the time it would take Abel Mendoza to break Mayweather’s record, Moton responded to the post using garbage emojis. Mayweather’s record was used as a narrative story, but in an interview with WBN, Mendoza said that it was not part of his plan.
“My goal wasn’t to beat Floyd’s record. It’s to be a world champion.”
Whether Mendoza wants a record or not, the subject of the record is why the Carmel Moton vs. Aber Mendoza match makes sense.
Mayweather’s Protégé Carmel Moton (7-0, 6 KOs) appears willing to face Mendoza, but Mendoza appears to be questioning Moton about being the enemy he wants to face.
In an interview with Jeremy Fioretino, Abel Mendoza talked about how Moton doesn’t deserve the opportunity to fight him. Mendoza believes he is at the point of his boxing career where he should compete with top candidates and world champions.
Abel Mendoza is a confident fighter who believes his undefeated record has a lot of weight. During the interview, both Jeremy Fiorentino and Abel Mendoza labeled Carmel Moton’s callouts and rankings.
Mendoza doesn’t think a boxer who has fought seven times on his resume deserves the opportunity to face an unbeaten fighter with 42 wins. Mendoza now refused to recognize Moton as a valuable opponent, but he described a time when he was willing to fight Moton.
“After I knock out the tank, and after he (Moton) becomes a competitor, I give him a shot.”
Apparently, what Abel Mendoza doesn’t recognize is the fact that no one knows Abel Mendoza at this point, but Mayweather Promotion’s blue chip outlook knows “big deal” Moton.
Yes, Abel Mendoza has an eye-catching record, but he has no infamy. At this point, Abel Mendoza’s current situation is like a business owner who owns nothing. Carmel Moton has only seven fights on his resume, but one thing Moton has for him is infamous.
That being said, it’s not easy for Abel Mendoza to need a fight with Carmel Moton. Despite the fact that the undefeated Mendoza was already in 42 fights, a victory over Carmel Moton would be the biggest victory of Mendoza’s career.
Abel Mendoza’s previous list of enemies is not questionable. All you can see is total mediocrity. Mendoza’s 42 Win Record is Flex, but the problem is that we have been able to see Mendoza losing recently.
In December 2023, in a match labelled as an exhibition, Abermendoza was defeated by Vseborod Shunkov. Six months later, Abel Mendoza was defeated by Jason Sanchez in another match labelled an exhibition.
Abel Mendoza has 35 battles than Carmel Moton, but despite the numbers, he is basically on the same level from a skill standpoint. That being said, it’s time for someone to send you a contract.
