Chelsea closes £60 million deal for Joan Pedro

Joao Pedro took part in Brighton’s Chelsea for a fee in the £60 million region.

The 23-year-old Brazilian signed an eight-year contract with the London Club and joined the team at the US Club World Cup.

He states: “I know this is a big club with a great history, they have great players in the past and they have great players now, so I’m excited to be part of it.

Fulminence to Chelsea

Pedro made a breakthrough in his hometown of Fulminence before joining Watford in 2020.

He was impressed on Vicarage Road, earning the move to Brighton with a £30 million club record fee, scoring 30 goals in 70 games for the Seagulls.

His departure sees him follow a well-running path from Amex to Stamford Bridge, but Brighton boss Fabian Hazeler is sure the South Coast Club can handle it in his absence.

He states: “This is a good move for all parties, it is a great deal for the club, a good return on a huge investment in the field of pitch, where there is a lot of competition and is already well served in terms of offensive talent.

“It’s also an exciting move for Joanne, giving him the opportunity to play Champions League football this season. Of course, he wants to solidify his position with the Brazilian team before next summer’s World Cup.”

Chelsea have already bolstered their attack options this summer by snapping Liam Dellup while Estevao Willian and Kendry Paes complete the pre-positioned moves.
