Children of involved fathers perform well and have fewer behavioral problems

Children with active fathers thrive significantly more academically, emotionally and behaviorally than their peers The father doesn’t matteraccording to new research from the University of Virginia and Hampton University.
the studyanalysing US census data from more than 1,300 children across Virginia, revealing that children with engaged fathers are more likely to get top grades, less likely to develop school behavioral problems, and less likely to show depression.
In particular, girls were more likely to acquire engaged dads (53% compared to 53%), and according to the report, they were much less likely to diagnose depression (1% vs. 10%). Boys were far less likely to get into trouble at school. Only 22% of boys with father involved had school behavior problems, compared to 35% of boys with fewer fiancées.
“Dads are important for both boys and girls,” researches co-authors Brad Wilcox I wrote it. “But they are more important to boys’ school behavior and girls’ emotional well-being.”

In this study, a “engaged” father defines parenting requests as someone who reported “very well” and regularly shares meals with their family at least four times a week.
“The results here are consistent with the literature showing that boys respond to family problems by acting, but girls turn inwardly (“internalizing” into the literature). In other words, the pain experienced by father’s departure appears externally for the boy and internally for the girl.
There was no racial difference in school performance or school behavior issues between white and black children from unharmed families in the state, the author said.
The study also found no correlation between the father’s race and education level and his level of involvement. However, marriage status state made a “major” difference in paternal involvement. More than half (51%) of children with married parents have fathers with very enthusiastic fathers.

The study also found that children living alone with children and fathers in the family were more likely to have been engaged to their father.
