“When I watched the video, I came in very aggressively, tripped over Campos’ feet, and was embarrassed in front of 25,000, and said, ‘twitching a two-game suspension’ and ‘hitting the referee’,” Schnal said. “There were no bumps. I shouldn’t be responsible for the athleticism of a grown man. It’s too much because I was saying I didn’t hit him.

“What is it? If it guarantees emissions, there will be a lot of emissions. It’s your job to manage the game with calmness, calmness and a bit of generosity, like a judge.”

The NCAA said Schnal is claiming the ball and strike heard on the broadcast. The NCAA added that the head coach was given a warning.

Since LSU won Game 2 and the College World Series, Shunal’s suspension will begin in the 2026 season. The NCAA said Schnal and First Base coach Matt Schilling engaged in “long-term debate” and caused two-game suspension. Shilling could be stopped in three games. One is for emissions, and two are “long-term discussion.”

Schnal said he couldn’t hear Campos’ first warning when he was insisting on the ball and strike. He added that he did not add “sorry” about what happened.

“As head coach, it’s your right to explain why we were warned,” Schnal said. “I’m 48 and shouldn’t be attacked by another grown man. When I came out, I was told it was a warning issued to discuss the ball and the strike, and then I said it was because you missed three, and it was ejected at that point.

Coastal Carolina Athletic Director Chance Miller said the emissions “changed the trajectory of our team’s must-see game.”

“These decisions were made incredible levels of rush without attempting to escalate, robbing student-athletes of the leadership they have relied on through historic postseason runs,” Miller said.

“This isn’t about a single call. It’s about the process and professionalism. At the biggest moments of the college baseball season, our program and its student-athletes are worth better.”
