Coby Mine is “lost” according to former England and Manchester United midfielder Shoals

Paul Scholes says Cobby Mine looks lost after being deployed to various positions by Manchester United boss Reuben Amorim.

Mainoo became a unified regular last season, breaking past to play for England in Euro 2024.

However, his progress has stagnated in recent months, and Shoals believes it depends on the lack of a fixed position.

Mainoo has played in defensive, offensive midfield roles in recent weeks, even as a fake nine of his defeat to Crystal Palace.

And Shoals feels that Amorim hasn’t benefited him.

The former United and the British midfielder told the overlap fans’ debate: “I think Mainoo has been lost. We talked about what Declan Rice had lost before. I think Mine has been lost too. They don’t know what to do with him.

“He’s playing in one of the No. 10 positions, so I don’t think he knows where he’s going to play on the football pitch. He was played in two midfielders. He was Don’t think of him as the best athlete.

“He’s a great footballer. Do you think No. 10 is (but) right for False Nine? It’s not even a million years.”
