Cold Shoulders: Why doesn’t Jevonta Davis bit Shakur Stephenson’s bait?

Shakur Stephenson cried out today about fan favourites Gervonta Davis and William Zepeda, not wanting to fight him. Stevenson (22-0, 10 Kos) says they both feel scared to fight him, and he thinks he is not worthy of a fight, not his toxic style.

I’m obsessed with the tank

WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur claims that Tank Davis (30-0, 28 Kos) is not on his level and will defeat him when he ultimately fights. Davis has not said he would give Shakur the chance to fight him. It looks like Stephenson I’m so poor and clingy Not putting on the tank, so that you can see that the Newark native has done nothing to increase his popularity by making more involved with his enemy. It’s scary that Wahy Shakur is stuck on the tank.

Furthermore, Shakur travels to 140 and 147, not getting the essential sights he needs to become popular. He will not compete with Ernesto Mercado, Jaron’s “boots” Ennis, or Virgil Ortiz Jr. Fight him.

The main problem is that Stephenson has never fought a notable person in his eight years of professional career to name his fans. When he opposed power, fans kicked him out of the arena in a fight with Edwin de los Santos, Jeremiah Nakatiglia and Giotto Gonzalez.

The Battle of Shakur at 135

Artem Harutyunyan: UD 12
Edin de Los Santos: UD 12
Shuichiro Yoshino: TKO 6

“My problem with Lomachenko is that he went and grabbed the belt. You’re just getting in the way. I don’t want to fight anyone,” Shakur Stephenson said. Ring MagazineVasily Lomachenko complains that she doesn’t want to fight him.

The same can be said about Shakur. He ignores callouts from Ernesto Mercado and is not interested in fighting Andy Cruz, Raymond Muratala or Abdullah Mason. Shakur is a hypocrite. Lomachenko did more in his professional career than Shakur, who seemed poor against his toughest opponent at 126, 130, with no one losing in 130 against Delos Santos. He ran away from him all night and then blamed his performance for being injured.

“Everything can happen,” Shakur said. “It’s amazing what Turki does for boxing. He’s the biggest fight possible and the biggest fight available. If that fight doesn’t happen, someone has to be scared. Not that, it’s tied together.

“He goes out and talks about my name and always denies me,” Stevenson said of Tank Davis. “If you feel that way about me, fight me, as you mentioned, about ‘I didn’t do this for the sport of boxing.’ Why do you fight against these people who have not done anything for the sport of boxing, who have not accomplished what I have accomplished? Then you go out there and say, “He’s not doing anything.” What did you do for the sport of boxing? You are not fighting Shakur about Garbonta.

Stevenson’s world title wins

Edwin de los Santos: WBC vacant 135 pound title
Oscar Valdez: WBC 130-lb
Jamel Herring: WBO 130-lb title
Joet Gonzalez: WBO 126-lb title

“I think that battle will capture the imagination of the world,” Shakur continued about his desire to fight Tank Davis. “I think that’s the biggest battle in the world. Everywhere,” Stevenson said.

Stevenson is far apart in how he and Tank Davis see the fight being watched by fans. Shakur is unpopular and has a boring style, so it won’t become “the biggest battle in the world.” No one at 135 has a fan base large enough to attract fans around the world’s world’s battle with Gervonta. This division does not have any popular fighters outside the tank.

“I know what it is. He always tries to unravel me and talk about me, but I’m not that guy. I keep it real, tell the truth, and my peace. I’m going to talk about it,” Shakur said of Gelbonta. “I think he’s an incredible (tank) fighter. His boxing abilities are insane. His IQ, footwork, power and the way he sets up shots. I love his boxing style. Is that he can beat me? No.

“Do you think he’s on my level? No. I think he’s way better than him, but there’s only one way to find it. We’ve come to each other in the ring. I’d be willing to go to 140 for the right fight. I’m now a 135 pound gun,” Shakur said, “If he can’t get a fight with Tank Davis, he’s a light welter. I said this when asked if I was interested in going up to the grade.

Fans see Gerbonta as a better fighter, so it doesn’t matter what Shakur thinks about him being on top of Tank Davis. They think Shakur is not a match against Tank, and they are just running the whole fight, trying to survive like a boo-filled match against Edwin de los Santos. Shakur almost lost that fight as he refused to be involved. If Tank Davis fought him, that’s even worse.

Anyway, it’s clear why Stephenson is begging for a fight with Davis. He wants to set that huge, life-changing payday for life. He can then depart Newark, New Jersey and purchase an apartment in Manhattan or the Upper East Side of New York. Shakur has not won a fight with Tank Davis by defeating Andy Cruz, William Zepeda, Raymond Muratala or Abdullah Mason. All the tank should do is tell Shakur he must defeat these four fighters along with his good friend, Keyshawn Davis.

“I’m comfortable at 135. It’s easy. This is my weight class. When he said he’s ‘take over’ the 135-pound division, Shakur said. “I want to fight (William) Zepeda, but he seems very scary. Excuse after the excuse. Is that like you want an opportunity? I’m a guy who’s me I’ve never seen him be an essential challenger, and he doesn’t scream my name. When I’m a man chasing an essential challenger, why am I a champion? That means Don’t do that. Shakur said of William Zepeda.

Why does Zepeda want to fight Shakur when he knows he plays the tags and runs around the ring? With that style, Stephenson can land two or three shots and win the rest of the round. Zepeda is a profession and he would not want to fight a man who still uses amateur style.

It’s not surprising that Shakur is not involved in moving to 140 to fight the killer in class of that weight. If he’s going to compete in that division, it needs to oppose Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney and Theofimo Lopez. They are a battle of paying a lot. So it wouldn’t be a problem if he lost.

“It should be a #1 guy, ‘Yes, I want to fight this guy,” Shakur said of Zepeda.

The reason Zepeda isn’t pushing for the fight against Shakur is because he’s not popular and is a runner who gets booed from his fight. If they provide enough money to Zepeda, he will fight Shakur, but he is not going to agree to play a Chump Change match.

“He should have that confidence, but will he do?” Shakur said of Zepeda. “I’m taking my belt off that night. I’m going to slap him.”
