Cole Palmer says Chelsea’s penalty against Liverpool will end the goal drought and “sh*t will happen.”

Cole Palmer fought back against social media critics and admitted “sh*t happen” after finishing his long goal drought in a 3-1 victory at Liverpool this afternoon.

This was Palmer’s first goal in 19 games and was worthy of richness after a great display that proved too much to handle for Liverpool’s outs.

England International scored a stop time penalty on the scoresheet for the first time since mid-January after playing a key role in Chelsea’s first two goals.

Virgil van Dyke scored a goal for Liverpool, but it was Palmer’s day when Chelsea moved level with points against Newcastle in the Champions League match.

Palmer – I felt normal

The former Manchester City playmaker told Sky Sports: “I just felt normal. Obviously, I went for three months without scoring, but it gave me more fighting and motivation for myself and my team.

“There are a lot of idiots, trolls and more on social media these days. I don’t pay attention to that. I scored today, but I’m only one, but I’m continuing to improve and trying to reach a new level.”

Palmer admitted that he had a hard time dealing with recent barren spells.

He added: “I feel like I’m disappointed with the team without scoring. I feel like I’m just mentally strong. I’m proud to help my team.

Lack of motivation from Liverpool – Van Dyke

Liverpool has been a long way from the best, but Captain Van Dick claimed that despite winning the title last weekend there was no lack of motivation.

The Dutch defender said:

“Obviously we tried it, but it wasn’t great, the way we trained, the sharpness we had, everyone was ready for it.

“We knew it would be tough at times. We could have done better in our defenses as a team, but we’ll analyze it tomorrow and prepare for the next game.”

He added:

“Even if I’m done, I’ve come here to get good results. It has to hurt. I’m definitely disappointed.”
