Compare Shakur Stevenson to boxing legend: Is he really the top 10 lightweight?
Shakur Stephenson says the only way he can move to 140 is if he conquered the 135-pound division. He believes he will not grow into the light welterweight division. Stephenson (24-0,11 KOS) said his goal is “One of the best lightweight” In history.

Shakur vs. Boxing legend
He lacks a versatile game, so in a true sense it’s very unlikely that Shakur will be one of the greatest lightweights ever in a true sense. He’s all defensive and barely offensive.
If you’ve followed the sport of boxing for many years, you’ll see that Stevenson doesn’t even make it into the biggest lightweight top 10 due to the lack of a game’s offensive/defensive balance. To create the best lightweight list of all time, you need more than defense.
The lightest ever
Pernell Whitaker
Henry Armstrong
Joe Gunn
Benny Leonard
Carlos Ortiz
Ike Williams
Tony Canzonelli
Julio Saza Chaves
Roberto Duran
Edwin Rosario
Jose Luis Ramirez
Hector Camacho
Oscar de la Joya
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Manny Pacquiao
If he fought in this era, imagine what the lightweight version of Dela Joya would have done to Shakur. That wouldn’t be pretty. How about Mayweather and Pacquiao? When they were fighting light, they were burning fast and had excellent power. Shakur cannot be compared to any of the fighters or others on the list.
“I don’t think I’m that big to fight at 140 pounds. If that’s the case, I’ll say, ‘Okay, I did it all with 135. I conquered the division. Night cap. “I want to be the lightest weight ever.”
Stephenson’s Matchmaking Choice
If Shakur wanted to be one of the best lightweights, why did he fight William Zepeda, Josh Padry and Artem Hartyunyan in his final three fights? These three aren’t nearing the “best” in the 135 pound division. Fighting against them instead of talented lightweight suggests that his goal is not to be the best in a real way. He’s trying to take it Back door To be the best. You can’t respect it.
The best current lightweight
- Much best than fighter jets like Andy Cruz – Shakur, and best on another level. Cruises are also the most avoided.
- Floydskofield
- Abdullah Mason
- Herrera Core
- Raymond Muratara
- Gervonta Davis
- Lamont Roach
