“Connor stopped him in round 8”: Nigelben details William Skull’s sparring struggle before the Battle of Canelo

Nigel Ben says IBF super middleweight champion William Skull left before his eighth round in a sparring session with Connor Ben. He says Skull was tired in the fourth round.

Nigel says Skull (23-0, 9 Kos) was too tired in the eighth due to the fast pace that Connor put him in round four.

Canelo’s easy fight?

Now, it all makes sense as to why WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez is eager to fight Skull. If he was fighting at the level of David Benavides or David Morell, this battle probably wouldn’t happen on May 3rd. Canelo is very strategic about who he will fight.

It is hard to believe what Benn said about 32-year-old William Skull, 32, as he looked horribly bad and won the controversial 12-round unanimous decision in Germany on October 19th. Many boxing fans who saw the fight were won by Shishkin. I watched the fight and Shishkin won 10-2. It was an embarrassingly badly scored fight by a judge.

Given how poor Skull is in his final fight, it makes sense what Nigel is saying about him quitting. If Connor Ben was in the ring with Skull in place of Shishkin last October, he would probably have stopped him.

“I’m telling you the truth. He was sparring and when he was about five he said, ‘Oh, I need it a bit.’ Then, about four, five, you can ask everyone else, he was a bit tired so he was sitting on the ring rope,” Nigel Ben said. IFL TVWilliam Skull talks about sparring with his son Connor Ben.

“It’s going to be about five, six, seven. He started to feel the pace. I’m not lying to you. Connor put it on him. What will he do? He stopped sparring. Connor put it on him.
