Crawford vs Canelo: Benavidez Sr. expects a boring battle

Jose Benavidez Sr. says fans are “upset” as Terence Crawford makes it “bored” in his battle with Canelo Alvarez by constantly moving in the megafight on September 13th.

Benavidez SR: Crawford-Canelo Boring Fight

Benavidez Jr. is about to paint on how Crawford (41-0, 31 Kos) attacks Canelo and hasn’t bought it in a photo that is likely trying to knock him out. Jose Sr. says it’s too big for Crawford, and is trying to mimic the style William Skull and Jermel Charlo used against Alvarez.

Benavidez Sr. has said he sees Crawford fighting in the same way about how William Scull and Jermell Charlo fought while he was with Canelo. That makes sense. Crawford says he is going to fight aggressively, but he will rise 14 pounds a year later, with a poor performance at 154 in his debut in that division.

Crawford’s defensive game plan

Benavides will bring about a much different type of battle than Canelo compared to the aging, smaller, counter-puncher Crawford. He is not fighting like Benavides, and he is too old to start. Crawford tries to chase Floyd Mayweather JR’s blueprint for boxing, moving and holding. If that doesn’t work, Crawford will use more moves and fight, just like he did in 2016 when he defeated Viktor Postol years ago.

“Unless you win $200 million, that’s never going to happen. He’ll probably fight David. That’s what he wants. $200 million,” Jose Sr. said of Canelo’s asking price for the fight against David Benavides. “He said, ‘David is not fighting anyone. David is not a champion. David is none.” He wants $200 million.

Jose Sr. needs to forget that Canelo will fight his son Benavidez. If he had hoped, he would have done it years ago, and that had nothing to do with the garbage story David had done. Canelo clearly sees Benavidez as a bad style matchup for him and doesn’t want to lose his fans if he gets beaten.

“He was going to fight Makab. Cruiserweight. What’s f***? Yeah, he’s full of excuses. I don’t even know what to say anymore,” Jose Sr. said.
