Barstool Sports founder and “Swiftie” Dave Portnoy frankly smokes what’s been created as a “Taylor Swift Tax.”
Proposed Rhode Island laws will be targeted Opulent second home owners cost over $1 million and charge an annual fee that could soar to six figures.
“We don’t like that tax, Stuart,” Portnoy said in an interview with “Varney & Co.” “Now I don’t have a home in Rhode Island, but it was pretty close to Rhode Island, so I don’t like those states getting ideas.”

In 2013, Swift reduced its approximately $17 million at its exclusive Watch Hill area mansion in Westerly, Rhode Island.
She could be hit for another $136,000 due to the empty value of the property Annual taxes if the law passes.
Swift owns seven homes across the United States, including facilities in New York City, Beverly Hills, Nashville and Rhode Island.

As a second home owner in Nantucket, Massachusetts Portnoy expressed concern Rhode Island’s proposed taxes jokingly hope that New England will not get an idea from it.
“Now, I think if they name the tax with the Dave Portnoy tax in Massachusetts, my ego might make me slip,” he joked.

Portnoy owns properties in Miami, Saratoga Springs, Montauk and Nantucket. His waterfront Nantucket Estate was purchased in 2023 for $42 million. This is a record sale for both the island and the state.
For now, the businessman is happy with his four homes.
