Denzel Washington bit his tongue “almost half off” and says it’s affecting my speech

Washington explained that his health issues led to complications in preparation for his honorable role in the upcoming Broadway revival of William Shakespeare’s iconic play Othello, starring Jake Gillenhaal.

“To me, ‘Where are you going to answer this accusation?’ It’s difficult because my tongue is swollen,” the Academy Award winner said. “It affected everything.”
Washington did not provide details about how he injured his tongue or what medical procedures he received to treat the wound.
However, the “Gladiator: 2” star shared that he is leaning on his faith to overcome his challenge in the wake of the incident.

Washington also expressed his belief that Gyllenhaal is “glorious” in the role of Othello’s nemesis Iago.
