Developing AGIs in the Zuckerberg Building Superintelligence Team Meta: Report

Bloomberg News Reported Zuckerberg is considering building a super intelligence team and is recruiting from a group of AI researchers and engineers who are holding a series of meetings.
Zuckerberg believes Meta is in a position to outperform other tech companies in the AGI race and prioritizes recruiting this team, Bloomberg reports citing people familiar with the meta CEO’s plans.
Zuckerberg will hire around 50 people and personally recruit most of the members for the new Superintelligence team, according to the report, AI founder Alexandr Wang added that he will join Meta’s AGI team once the billions of dollars invested in technology giant startups are complete.

Bloomberg reported that the recruitment push was attributable in part to Zuckerberg’s frustration over the performance of Lama 4, Meta’s latest major language model.
Earlier this year, Zuckerberg announced that Meta had invested up to $65 billion in AI in 2025, including the construction of a large data center, and at the time, “Llama 4 will become a major state for the ART model.”

Meta is working on a new flagship AI model called “Behemoth,” but delayed its release last month due to concerns about whether improvements to the previous model are as important as the company has justified its public disclosure. The journal reported that Behemoth’s launch was pushed from April to June before the recent postponement pushed it back into the fall.
Meta previously showed that Behemoth outperforms similar models from Openai, Google and humanity, but sources told the outlet that challenges in training AI models are hampering its performance.
Meta was seen as lagging behind Tech Rivals Microsoft, Google and Openai in AI development, but its spending push helped Facebook and Instagram parent companies catch up.

Other high-tech companies including Openai Elon Musk’s XaiThey also race to develop AGIs and pursue additional funding for those efforts.
