Did Mike Tyson allow him to fight with a good of 59?
Last November 15, the Texas Committee granted former world champion “Iron” Mike Tyson a license to fight Jake Paul, 59 and 28, via Netflix.
Obviously, it was all about money, not boxers’ safety. Tyson lost to Paul, making it difficult for the writer to be a Tyson fan. He seemed to be stepping into cement.
In my opinion, Tyson was one of the top 10 heavyweights of all time who must have needed money to play the best fight ever.
Paul had no amateur experience and was 10-1, defeating two on a 0-1 record in his 10 fights with five opponents who were making their debut.
It was sad to see Tyson experience a loss move to Paul, which was supposed to have been an exhibition, rather than an official battle. The score was 79-73 twice, with 80-72 in Paul’s advantage.
Four days after this match, the Tennessee Commission said the former world heavyweight champion Oliver “Atomic Bull” McCall, 59-14, 59+ years or more, Stacey “Bigfoot” Frasier, 16-22, 54 years old . Frasier lost 19 of his last 20 fights, 13 of whom were stopped. McCall stopped Fraser in the second round.
In February this year, McCall stopped 52-year-old Gary Covia (3-4) in the first round again in Tennessee. On March 18th, McCall played his third fight in Tennessee, and will be named his opponent. McCall may remember having what appears to be a nervous breakdown of loss.
In November 1994, former world champion “Big” George Foreman won the world title fight when he defeated IBF and WBA world heavyweight champion Michael ‘Double M’ Mooler, 35-0 in Nevada I became a boxer.
Previously, the oldest world title winner was former two-part world champion “Ruby” Bob Fitzsimmons, who won the world title at the age of 40.
Recently, former world champion Vladimir’ Dr. 64-5 Steelhammer’ Klitschko announced the possibility of returning to the ring at the age of 49. Is this an effort to top Foreman’s record at 45?
Where does that end, can a boxer fight well past 40, let alone near 60? Fighter death in the ring?
