“Healthy people don’t consume medical resources,” Oz said of the so-called “Maha” movement. “The best way to reduce drug spending is to use fewer drugs because you don’t need them.”

“The next big thing we want to focus on is the modernization of Medicare and Medicaid,” Oz said. “That’s how Americans get the care they want, they need, and they deserve. Both doctors and patients need to empower patients and providers who need to be equipped with better tools.”

Finally, Oz said he would try to eliminate fraud and abuse within the Medicare and Medicaid systems.

Medicare is a government healthcare program that provides compensation to approximately 65 million Americans over the age of 65, according to the Centers for Medicare’s Advocacy. Medicaid is a federal assistance program aimed at around 72 million low-income Americans, according to Medicaid.gov.
