Eddie Hahn fights Galal Jafai to bypass Francisco Rodriguez Jr.’s rematch, seeking Kenshiro Terazi’s title match after doping scandal
Eddie Hearn hopes that WBC will be able to skip Galal Yafai’s rematch in the WBC Order with Francisco Rodriguez Jr. and designate flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji as a must-have challenger.
Hahn found Rodriguez Jr. (40-6-1, 27 KOs) not only tested positive on June 21st against Jafère (9-1, 7 KOs) but also in his previous match against Josue Jesus Morales on December 15th last year. The battle was ruled with contestestest.
Rodriguez Jr. abused Yafai, the Hearn fighter, and dropped him in the 12th round in order to abdicate the WBC interim flyweight title last June in Birmingham, England. It was a one-sided battle, with Francisco Jr. winning with scores 119-108, 119-108 and 118-109.
Khan reluctantly says that Jafai will fight Rodriguez again. I can understand. With him testing positively in two consecutive fights, he is wary of Yafai fighting him again. Rodriguez’s rule was attributed to the PED because it was a one-sided battle. He has always been a massive combination puncher. Its style is Kryptonite for approaching the battle of Jafai. He’s a guy trying to knock out his opponent with a single shot.
“I don’t know how he tested the B-sample within two weeks of breaking the news about the test,” Eddie Hearn said. IFL TV About Francisco Rodriguez Jr.: “He went through the process and decided it was an accident, and he was unlucky.
“The fight is not a contest. The title is vacant, but he can do it again. Last night, Francisco Rodriguez Jr. learned that he had failed a drug test in his fight before Galal Jafai (against Joju Jesus Morales last December). I realized there are no contests in Texas. We contacted the Texas Commission to confirm that he had failed a drug test. ”
It doesn’t matter that Rodriguez Jr. failed drug tests in his previous fight with Morales. The conflict with Yafai was still approved. Hurn therefore needs to decide whether he wants Jafai to pass in a rematch with Rodriguez. If he chooses not to do so, he must go in a different direction towards the world title.
“We were testing VADA for that fight, so we need a full report on what happened in the process (Rodriguez vs. Yarfai),” Hahn said. “If he had known that Francisco Rodriguez had failed his drug test that night, he would have had an even broader test and would have told WBC.
“So you’re telling me, Francisco Rodriguez failed a drug test in his last two fights. On the night of the fight he had drugs in his system. Now you want to order a rematch. Galar Jafai was in a situation where he fought drugs that enhanced performance in his system.
Yafai took the be hit that night. His trainer should have stopped the fight by the sixth round, as it was clear at the time that Rodriguez was too good for him. It made no sense to allow Galar to stay there and absorb all the punishments for good fighters.
“‘If this guy fails the test, don’t order this rematch, not just one, but whatever you do,” Hearn said. “Do the right thing. This will make Galaljafai the mandatory challenger for the (WBC flyweight) world title. Let Rodriguez pass the process. He deserves the opportunity to see if he is innocent.
Hahn is wasting his time hoping that WBC will skip the rematch with Rodriguez and become the mandatory challenger for the 112 pound title. If Eddie is not happy with Jafai fighting Francisco Jr., he should tell him not to do that.
“What about the last one? This is the dishonor that Galal Yafai has to rematch this guy, when Galal Yafai is given the opportunity after he goes through it.
