Eddie Hearn is furious when Richardson Hitchens announces free agency after George Cambosos’ victory
Eddie Hearn was furious last Saturday, responding to matchroom fighter IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchens, who announced in the ring that he is a free agent after winning George Cambosos at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Hearn says he invested a lot of money in the development of the Hitchens and piloted him into the world title and the Battle of Cambosos. He lost money in the Battle of Hitchens. He felt it was a stab wound in the back. It’s a sign of disloyalty that 27-year-old Richardson chose to announce to the world that he is a free agent last Saturday.
Hahn’s Lost Hitchens Investment
What Hitchens clearly relies on is those like Turki Aralsuk who are scooping him up and paying millions of people.
Richardson: No power, boring style
The Hitchens have not shown any talent to defeat the top fighters in the 140. He can defeat some of them, but he will lose to Gary Antoanne Russell, Alberto Puero and Teofimo Lopez because he has no strength. Hitchens’ attacks are limited to jabs and rights.
That style doesn’t work either against Russell, Lopez, or Subrielle Matthias. That might explain why the Hitchens are not interested in fighting Matthias or Russell. Those guys will defeat him. Division rookie Keyshaun Davis is also a nightmare for the Hitchens, and will have an eye on Ernesto Mercardo.
The Hitchens are like another Devin Haney type. He has no strength and needs to be carefully matched. Otherwise he’ll lose. It is unclear why Hearn wasted money on him in the first place. An outdated Mayweather style game.
“I have no loyalty to boxing. I remember meeting Richardson Hitchens, the door to his car was falling. I spent a lot of money. IFL TVin response to Richardson Hitchens, announced he was a free agent in the ring last Saturday night after he won George Cambosos Jr.
I don’t understand why Hearn is so mad at Hitchens, who announced his free agency. He should say, ‘Good riddance. Don’t the door hit you on your way out. Now I can focus on fan-friendly fighters. ”
The real question is, why did Hearn invest his money in Hitchens, not resonating with his fans? That was a mistake. Hahn has a fighter jet that has a much more fan-friendly style than the Hitchens. In the Hitchens, if you put it with good 140 pounds like Gary Antoanne Russell, Ernesto Mercado, Keyshaun Davis and Sabriel Matthias, he’s likely to lose, so he has to be protected.
Even Arnold Barboza Jr. and Jake Catterall would be a 50-50 fight for the Hitchens. He will struggle very badly with those people. The only good thing about Hitchens is the story of the garbage he does outside the ring during an interview. He’s not a social media guy like Shakur Stevenson. Shakur Stevenson posts on X every day and has a huge following. Hitchens’ social media accounts have few followers.
Ticket sales: Hitchens’s issue
“I boxed him up at Madison Square Garden (against John Bauza). I made his headlines in his Orlando (against Jose Zepeda), where we really didn’t sell a lot of tickets and lost a lot of money,” said Hahn of Hitchens. “I kept it. I found his headline in Las Vegas (against Gustavo Lemos).
Mayweather Style fails with Hitchens
Hahn should have woken up and smelled coffee when the fight against Bauza, Zepeda and Lemos failed to sell tickets. Additionally, Richardson was booed by fans in those fights due to his boring and safe fighting style. At that point, Hahn should have got a clue that the West Coast US dislikes his blows and ignores him. Retro Mayweather Styleit doesn’t work in this era.
“As far as Richie (Hitchens) is concerned, Keith Connolly said, ‘Make sure you’re a free agent.’ But it’s fine as you know what you’re dealing with. “Want to join the Richardson Hitchens business? Hearn said.
Hitchens has already shown his hands and has announced to fans that he is a free agent and is no longer a matchroom. Why does Hearn want to continue working with him after doing that? I don’t. Let him go. He’ll come around raw when he discovers the money that Hitchens starts to lose and he thought he’d get along with the other promoters. Hitchin’s two problems are:
- Boring fighting style: He adopts Mayweather’s potshot style, but in this era he can’t entertain fans. His fight against excessive Cambosus was boring to watch.
- There is no power
- It must be protected: The Hitchens promoter must not let him enter the killer at 140 or 147 as he loses. He is not talented enough to beat Russell, Mercado, Keyshaun, Brian Norman Jr., or Shafram Jassov. Anyone can see it.
“Edgar Berlanga won the lottery along with Keith Connolly, but Tulki came over (signed him),” Hahn said of the matchroom and the fighter who chose not to re-up despite being piloted on a big payday with Canelo Alvarez.
“If that’s what suits me,” Hearn said.
Hitchens appears to believe that Torki Aralsif will scoop him up just like Edgar Berlanga after he leaves the matchroom. Reports say Turki will not work for Hitchins unless she is with Matchroom. It leaves no choice but for Hitchens to engulf his pride and return to Hearn.
