Match preview of England v Latvia
England and Latvia are scheduled to face off at Wembley Stadium on Monday evening in the 2026 World Cup qualifying match.
England sends Albania 2-0 and Latvia edges out Andorra 1-0, and both sides win the opener before appearing in the match.

The German tactician became the 11th consecutive full-time England manager to secure a victory in the first match.
England’s horrifying record in World Cup qualifying remains. Their unbeaten streak at this stage dates back to 2009, reaching 32 games.
Furthermore, they have not suffered a home defeat in World Cup qualifiers since losing to Germany in 2000.
England is aiming for easy qualifications, but Latvia is the first independent nation to reach the World Cup final.

Latvia, currently sitting second in England’s behind-the-season group by England’s target difference, is facing a tough road where teams like Serbia and Albania are also competing for qualifying spots.
Despite struggling with the Nations League, which is now at risk of relegation after finishing the bottom of League C Group 4, Latvia is undefeated in the final five away fixtures of the World Cup qualifying campaign, winning a draw with Turkey and Norway in 2021, securing their recent victory at Gibraltar and Andorra.
Monday’s fixture marks the first-ever senior men’s international conference between England and Latvia.
England vs. Latvia team news
Friday’s victory was covered in something about an injury to Anthony Gordon in Newcastle. The winger, who replaced Marcus Rashford in the second half, was kicked out due to injuries.
After the match, Touchel admitted that Gordon’s situation was “a little worrying” and he later retreated from the team.
Tuchel is expected to spin the lineup and give players such as Reece James, Jordan Henderson, Levi Colwill and Jarrod Bowen the opportunity.
The omitted from Friday’s matchday teams could also change. And Gibbs White is now fighting for Gordon’s absence.
Latvia emerged unharmed from his victory over Andorra.
Midfielder Dennis Melnix was replaced at halftime, but the change appeared to be a tactical switch rather than an injury-related one. Paolo Nicolato may opt for a more defensive setup with Wembley, but Match-Winner Sits claims a starter role.
