Entering LA Jewelry Store through concrete walls, stealing $10 million with clocks, pendants and gold chains, and robbing tunnels
The robber tunneled concrete walls to access a jewellery store in Los Angeles, earning at least $10 million worth of watches, pendants, gold chains and other items, police said.
A robbery happened According to General David Culler of the LA Police Station, Sunday at Love Jewels on Broadway, in the heart of Downtown’s Jewels.
Investigators were reviewing security camera footage from the suspect who entered the store through a large hole excavated from the property next door, he said.
“They tunneled multiple levels of concrete to the target location,” Küller said Tuesday.
An unknown number of suspects escaped from the same hole and were kicked out on a later model Chevrolet truck, he said. The robbery was not found until a store employee arrived at work Monday morning.
Cuellar added that the initial estimate of $10 million worth of goods was stolen, which could change the number. The owner told The Associated Press that the loss was about $20 million and it had no insurance. There was no alarm and the feed to the security cameras in the store was cut off.
At the store Tuesday, workers covered holes in the wall with metal plates, repaired other damages, and cleaned display cases and discarded boxes. Two large safes are separated and include all the items that were in the store.
Customers and friends stopped by to offer sympathy, while some asked to buy the item.
The Love Jewels website advertises items such as 14 carat yellow gold rope chains for $1,200, heart-shaped gold earrings for $200, and gold cross pendants for $550. The store’s social media video shows a glass case filled with rings, watches and necklaces.
Police said the detective looked up the fingerprint and DNA scene.
